Josepha Sherman, Writer, Editor, Long-Time Friend of Tamora Pierce’s and Co-Editor of the Young Warriors: Stories of Strength Anthology, Died on Thursday, August 23, 2012. Jo was a fun-loving, hilarious presence on the SF scene, and leaves behind an enormous number of fan and pro friends.
R.I.P., Jo.
NPR’s list of The 100 Best-Ever Teen Novels is out, and Tamora Pierce made the list with four of her six nominated series: The Song of the Lioness (#50), Daughter of the Lioness/Tricksters (#81), The Immortals (#83) and The Circle of Magic (#86).
Tamora Pierce was a finalist for the 2012 Mythopoeic Society Fantasy Award for Children’s Literature for the Beka Cooper series. The award went to Delia Sherman’s The Freedom Maze, a book Tammy highly recommends to all her fans. Congratulations, Delia!

The Amelia Bloomer List recommends books with significant feminist content.
